Can we job craft it?
A job audit session

Piloting from late October 2026!

You're good at your job and you like it, in general, but somewhere along the way, it lost the newness and the challenge that made it exciting. You're no longer sure if it's helping you progress your career, so you should probably look for a new job, right?

Not so fast! Getting promoted and changing to a new organisation aren't the only routes to job satisfaction and career development. Your current role may have untapped potential, if you know the right places to look. With this career coaching session for women in the NZ public sector, I show you how.

Coaching benefits

This is a 1:1 online career coaching workshop that draws on the Job Demands-Resources model (Demerouti et al., 2007) and the process of job crafting (e.g. Tims & Bakker, 2010) and is evidence-based. It explores what potential your current role has to get you a better fit with your job and the career growth you want - before you start applying elsewhere.

You'll leave the session with clarity on whether you're missing an opportunity to reshape your specific role, and if yes, you'll finish up with 2-3 job crafting moves written up as SMART goals that you can start implementing straightaway. Plus, you'll learn the theory behind it, so you can keep applying it to your current role, long after the session ends.

If the outcome is that job crafting isn't going to cut it, you'll still come out with clarity - just a different kind. Sometimes the honest answer is that it's time for a change, and I'll suggest ways you can use what you've learnt to evaluate your options for what comes next.

Session overview

For this session:

  • you'll complete a short 10-minute pre-session assessment that audits the demands and resources of your current role

  • we'll recap what's brought you here, walk through your pre-session job audit to identify what's draining you, driving you and where there's scope for job crafting

  • taking a coaching approach, we'll explore options for job crafting your role and turn 2-3 of them into SMART goals in a personalised crafting plan for you to take away, or alternatively, we'll identify what features in any new role you might like to look out for in particular.

This is a focused, one-off career coaching session that gives you the space and support to get clear on your next move before setting you on your way. But if you'd like more support, let's talk about what ongoing coaching sessions could look like for you.
